Lucifer Typeface

Lucifer is a display typeface with an almost hostile appearance. Its sharp, expressive serifs, as well as its overall organic look and feel, are inspired by the hand-lettering of the main title of Robert Stöcklins poster design for the Mustermesse Basel 1924. The goal was not only to achieve a comparable, expressive quality as the few given, original glyphs are exhibiting but to create an overall working type system, which could even be used to set smaller pieces of running text. While the first few characters were already sketched in 2017, the typeface as a complete type-system with multiple cuts and over 550 different characters was drawn in 2019.
